District 5 Candidate Applications

City of Modesto District 5 Ad Hoc Committee

On August 10, 2010, the City Council appointed a Council subcommittee to solicit applications from eligible candidates from City Council District 5 to serve as an Interim Councilmember until the election of November 8, 2011. The vacancy is due to the impending resignation of Councilmember Olsen on November 4, 2010, upon her election to the California Assembly. (The November 8, 2011 District 5 Councilmember will be for a term of two years; the next regularly scheduled City Council District 5 Election will be held November 5, 2013.)

The Ad Hoc Committee will schedule and conduct interviews of all candidates in meetings which are governed by the Brown Act and are open to the public. Once the interview process has been completed, the Committee will recommend the top candidate(s) to the City Council for consideration and appointment at the Council’s November 9, 2010 meeting. At the August 16, 2010 Ad Hoc Committee Meeting, the following timelines were scheduled:
